My background

I am a native English speaker, born in Nottingham in the UK. I emigrated to the Netherlands in 1978, and since then I have been helping people improve their use of the English language, in the first place by editing and correcting everything from job application letters to newspaper articles, and later as a translator from Dutch into English.

My way of training

Many years ago I qualified as a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teacher, with a specialisation certificate in Business English. I specialise in giving tailor-made courses to individuals and small groups. My aim is to help my students to communicate in English with ease and confidence in all sorts of work-related situations, such as during telephone conversations, making a positive contribution at meetings, and giving presentations with confidence. I have taught Business English to employees from many large Dutch companies, including ABN AMRO, RABO, Van Lanschot, AHOLD, PostNL, Roche, Abbott, Rituals, de Bijenkorf, and many more.
